You might be wondering why our restaurant is named Salumeria Belsito. Traditionally, a salumeria is basically an Italian delicatessen, where you would find cold cuts such as salami, capicola, prosciutto, and other sliced meats, as well as a selection of cheeses. That’s what we specialize in – serving authentic, freshly sliced traditional Italian cured meats and a variety of fine, unique cheeses.
We also know that the word “salumeria” might not be the easiest words for non-native Italians to pronounce, so we encourage our guest to simply refer to our establishment as Belsito, which we think rolls off the tongue quite nicely.
The word Belsito was inspired after the small town of Montemaggiore Belsito, a small town located just southeast of Palermo, Sicily where Mike’s paternal grandmother’s family is from.
